FERNDALE 3, BLAINE 1

Williams

The Borderites took the first set 25-23, but were eventually defeated by the Golden Eagles who took the next three sets, 25-15, 25-15 and 25-14.

Ferndale senior Lay Williams used her powerful attack to rack up 13 kills to lead the offense, while sophomore Svetlana Baydak had eight kills.

Smith

Sophomore Brooklyn Larrabee added six kills to go with her 32 assists and four aces, which tied the team-high as senior Mariah Reyes and junior Caitlyn Berg each also added four aces.

Junior Katrina Ferry led with 11 digs.

Blaine was led by sophomore Teia Dube who had 14 kills to go along with eight digs and two blocks. She was joined by senior Kaitlyn Harrington who finished with eight kills and 18 digs.

Senior setter Brie Smith handed out 19 assists, while juniors Carly Saunders and Hannah Phelps-McDonald each had nine digs.

 

BELLINGHAM 3, MOUNT VERNON 2

Smith

The Bayhawks played their most complete match of the year at home and defeated the Bulldogs in the first two sets 25-22 and 25-14.

Mount Vernon stormed back to win the next two sets 25-21 and 25-23, which brought upon the fifth and final set.

Up 14-13, both teams rallied back and forth until a kill from junior Jayda Knutsen slammed the door on the match and the Bayhawks picked up their second win in their last three matches.

Freshman Sonoma Smith led her team in numerous categories while executing 12 kills, 31 digs, six assists, six aces and five blocks.

Juniors Olivia Siemanowski and Mary Lockhart joined the block party with five each, while combining for 14 kills.

Senior libero Ophelia Van Leeuwen finished with a team-high 41 digs, and junior setter Sadie Hanley dished out 25 assists.

 

MERIDIAN 3, KING’S 0 

Benson

In a rare weeknight non-conference game, the Trojans traveled down to Seattle and defeated the Knights in three straight sets, 25-18, 25-23 and 27-25.

Sophomore Eden Bernardy led her team with 11 kills, 14 digs and two aces, while freshman Melanie Short added nine kills and 12 digs.

Senior setter Grace Wells gave out 28 assists, and junior Taya Benson added four kills and two blocks.

 

LAKEWOOD 3, MOUNT BAKER 0

Bruland

The Mountaineers took a tough loss on the road down in Arlington, as the Cougars won 25-9, 25-11 and 25-14.

Senior Gracie Zender and junior Kylee Bruland worked hard in the back court throughout the night and combined for 17 digs, and senior Annalee Cohn turned them into 10 assists.

Junior Kaia Gesmundo led her team with four kills, and sophomore Rebeca Soares finished with two blocks.
