LAKEWOOD 3, NOOKSACK VALLEY 1
The Pioneers started with a strong run to begin the first set, but the high-flying Cougars blocked multiple kill attempts to get back in it. Lakewood ended up winning the first set 25-21.
The Cougars then went on the attack in the second set, and took advantage of multiple Nooksack Valley errors to win 25-18.
The Pioneers came back strong in the third set, and took it 25-19, before dropping the fourth set 25-22.
Junior Grace DeHoog and sophomore Elizabeth DeLange powered through with 15 kills each, while DeHoog added 13 digs.
Junior setter Payton Bartl totaled 36 assists to go along with her 11 digs, while juniors Annie Stremler and Avery Juergens each served up three aces.
BURLINGTON-EDISON 3, SEHOME 2
In a battle of two fantastic 2A teams, the Tigers edged the Mariners at home.
The two teams traded sets throughout the night, as Burlington-Edison took the first 25-23, before Sehome returned the favor with the same score in the second set.
The Tigers then took the third set 25-18, and the Mariners evened it up with a 25-23 victory in the fourth, with Burlington-Edison closing it out in the final set with a 15-5 win.
Both of Sehome’s junior outside hitters posted double-doubles with Bridgette Adams totaling 13 kills and 14 digs, and Hayden Niewiadomski bringing 12 kills and 20 digs.
Senior middle blocker Leah Lockwood continued her strong play at the net with seven kills and five blocks, while junior libero Makenna Andrews added 27 digs and senior Emmy Lee filled the stat sheet with 28 assists, six kills and four aces.
