MERIDIAN 3, SEDRO-WOOLLEY 1

Wells

The Trojans took the first set 25-22, and the Cubs evened it up in the second set 25-16, before Meridian finished it off 25-11 and 25-15.

Senior setter Grace Wells led the offense with 42 assists and three aces, and sophomore Eden Bernardy racked up 12 kills, 17 digs and four aces. Freshman Melanie Short also added 13 kills, 11 digs and four aces.

Juniors Taya Benson and Gracie Pap combined for 15 kills, and senior Rylan Bernardy finished with 13 digs and two aces.

 

LYNDEN 3, MOUNT VERNON 0

L. Hermanutz

The Lions went on the road and defeated the Bulldogs 25-18, 25-21 and 25-22.

Junior libero Campbell DeJong led her team with five aces as well as 13 digs, and sophomore Lexi Hermanutz added seven kills with a whopping .778 hitting percentage.

Senior Kamryn Hermanutz finished with 12 digs, three kills and two blocks while outside hitters Finley Parcher and Rian Stephan combined for 15 kills. Freshman Izzie Stephan had 24 assists and 10 digs.

 

NOOKSACK VALLEY 3, MOUNT BAKER 0

Bartl

Pioneer sophomore Elizabeth DeLange finished with 13 kills, four aces, five digs and two blocks to lead Nooksack Valley over the Mountaineers in three straight sets, 25-12, 25-20 and 25-16.

Soares

Junior setter Payton Bartl finished with 33 assists as she ran the offensive smoothly, and junior Grace DeHoog added 11 kills and five digs.

Mount Baker fought hard, and was able to make a big presence at the net, thanks to 6-foot-2 sophomore Rebeca Soares who has recently moved up from the junior varsity.

 

ANACORTES 3, FERNDALE 2

Williams

On senior night, the Golden Eagles had their hands full and took the first set 25-19.

The Seahawks used their high-flying attack to take the next two sets 26-24 and 25-13. Ferndale fought back to win the fourth set 25-23, but fell 15-11 in the final set.

Senior Lay Williams had a team-high 15 kills to lead the offensive attack, and she was closely followed by sophomore Svetlana Baydak who had 13 kills.

Junior Katrina Ferry had 19 digs, and senior Kaylie Carver finished with 11 digs, and sophomore Brooklyn Larrabee stuffed the stat sheet with 34 assists, 16 digs six kills and three aces.

 

BURLINGTON-EDISON 3, BLAINE 0

Phelps-McDonald

The Borderites battled in the first set against the top team in the conference, but fell 25-19. The Tigers then flexed their muscles and won the next two 25-10 and 25-7.

Senior Kaitlyn Harrington and sophomore Teia Dube each finished with four kills, five digs and an ace.

Junior libero Hannah Phelps-McDonald also finished with five digs.
