MERIDIAN 3, MOUNT VERNON 0

Wells

A strong showing at home formed a sweep over the Bulldogs 25-13, 25-12 and 25-17.

Freshman Melanie Short had the best night of her young varsity career as she posted 18 kills with a .325 hitting percentage, while also adding 12 digs.

Sophomore Eden Bernardy also finished with nine kills and 15 digs, and senior Rylan Bernardy added team-highs with nine aces and 18 digs.

Senior setter Grace Wells kept the offense running smoothly with 31 assists.

 

SEHOME 3, LAKEWOOD 0

Behrends

The junior combo outside hitting attack of Hayden Niewiadomski and Bridgette Adams led the Mariners to three straight set wins, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-17.

The each finished with 14 kills, with Niewiadomski added four aces, and Adams had three aces.

Senior Maddie Behrends finished with nine aces and a block, and senior Emmy Lee had 27 assists, seven digs and four kills.

Senior Makenna Andrews led the defense with 14 digs, and sophomore Paige Flory was right behind her with 13 digs.

 

FERNDALE 3, OAK HARBOR 1

Larrabee

The Golden Eagles won the first set 25-17, but the Wildcats clawed back to take set number two 25-20.

Ferndale battled back to win 25-21, and ultimately take the fourth set 25-17 to stay unbeaten in conference play.

Sophomore setter Brooklyn Larrabee filled the stat sheet once again with 28 assists, 15 digs, five kills and five aces. Senior Olivia Copps and junior Katrina Ferry each added 11 digs.

Senior Terrace Hendrickson and sophomore Svetlana had six kills each, and seniors Lay Williams and Amelie McKeon had five kills each.

Fellow senior Mariah Reyes chipped in with nine digs.

 

LYNDEN CHRISTIAN 3, NOOKSACK VALLEY 0

Dykstra

It was another extremely balanced attack for the Lyncs who battled the Pioneers, and won in three straight sets 25-23, 25-22 and 25-19.

Lynden Christian had five different players post at least five kills, as junior Ella Fritts distributed out 33 assists.

Senior Sydney Terpstra led the team with 10 kills, with Etta DeJong posting seven, Danya Dykstra and Alli Wright had six each, and Jocelyn Eshuis had five.

Rutgers

Sophomore libero Lyla Parriera had 14 digs, with Fritts and Ellie Pierce each digging out seven.

The Nooksack Valley attack was led by sophomore Elizabeth DeLange who had nine kills (.333 hitting percentage), three blocks and two aces.

Junior Grace DeHoog finished with eight kills, and junior Payton Bartl had 20 assists and six digs. Junior Gracie Rutgers has a team-high seven digs.

 

ANACORTES 3, SQUALICUM 1

Burns

The Seahawks won the first two sets, and the Storm fought back to take the third set before falling in the fourth set.

Junior Jolie Paz continued to impress as she led her team with 12 kills, 13 digs and a pair of blocks.

Junior Archer Burns had 2.5 blocks and three kills with a .300 hitting percentage, and setters Alyssa Roselli and Jazzy Bersola combined for 19 assists.

Sophomore Bronwyn Jones added 10 digs, while Penelope Durias, Hannah Warner and Tiana Thompson each had four kills.

 

BURLINGTON-EDISON 3, MOUNT BAKER 0

Rathjen

The Tigers took charge early, and defeated the Mountaineers 25-5, 25-12 and 25-9 on the road.

As one of the favorites to win the Northwest Conference, Burlington-Edison showed why on Thursday night.

The Mountaineers got a pair of aces from seniors Kennedy Rathjen and Annalee Cohn. Junior Maddi Lewis also contributed with three kills and 2.5 blocks.
