Although the final score read three sets to zero, it was anything but a blowout as every set was contested until the very end with extremely tense moments.
The Pioneers squeezed out a 26-24 victory in the first set, but fell behind in the second set. The Storm led by a handful of points late in the second set, and was up 24-21 at one point, before Nooksack Valley came back to take it 27-25.
It was another tight one in the third, but the Pioneers powered through to win 25-23.
Nooksack Valley sophomore Elizabeth DeLange enjoyed one of the best offensive matches of her varsity career as she posted 17 kills and three aces with a .395 hitting percentage.
Junior Payton Bartl finished with 35 assists, six digs and three kills, while junior Grace DeHoog added eight kills and nine kills and junior Gracie Rutgers had 15 digs and five kills.
Squalicum junior Jolie Paz worked extremely hard on the court and racked up a double-double with 14 kills and 15 digs, and sophomore libero Bronwyn Jones had team-highs with 15 digs and three aces.
Junior Archer Burns also made her presence known at the net with seven kills (.294 hitting percentage) and two blocks.
SEHOME 3, MOUNT VERNON 0
The Mariners looked great on the road once again, this time by upending the Bulldogs 25-14, 25-9 and 25-21.
Sehome had a hitting efficiency of .299 as a team, which was aided by the 22 assists from senior Emmy Lee, and 14 more assists from freshman Taylor Turrell.
Junior Hayden Niewiadomski had a team-high 11 kills, and she was closely followed by junior Anya Winter (7) and senior Leah Lockwood (6). Lockwood also racked up 4.5 blocks in the contest.
Junior libero Makenna Andrews led her team with 13 digs and five aces.
BURLINGTON-EDISON 3, FERNDALE 0
The mighty Tigers came to town and defeated the Golden Eagles 25-16, 25-10 and 25-14.
Junior Katrina Ferry led Ferndale with 15 digs, with sophomore Brooklyn Larrabee grabbing six digs and seven assists and junior Caitlyn Berg had seven digs.
Senior Terrace Hendrickson led offensively with five kills, and she was followed by senior Lay Williams who had three.
OAK HARBOR 3, BELLINGHAM 1
After losing the first two sets 25-23 and 25-11, the Bayhawks clawed back to take the third set 25-21, but ultimately fell in the fourth set 25-23.
