It was a typical first game of the season between two young squads as both teams combined for 17 walks and 19 strikeouts, as the Golden Eagles scored in nearly every inning to pick up the win. Junior pitcher Nolan Boleak allowed just one hit and struck out six batters in three innings of work as he picked up the win. Center fielder Fenton Vasak went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and three runs scored to lead the offense for Ferndale. He was aided by second baseman Brayden Ebbesen and catcher Joe Bense who each had a pair of hits. Eljas Lara tripled for the Storm.

The Pioneers committed six errors, which opened the door for 11 unearned runs for the Vikings on the road. Senior shortstop Colby Martin had the lone hit for Nooksack Valley, and junior pitcher Evan Brown struck out three batters over two innings but was saddled with the loss.
