Hudson Neff and Max Braunstein came together to pitch a masterpiece as the Mariners topped the Turks 3-1. Sehome jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when a single by Gunnar Anderson scored Neff, and Grady Tweit scored a few batters later on a fielder’s choice. Riley Carlson’s sacrifice scored Ryder McGrath in the bottom of the third inning to give the Mariners a 3-0 lead. Anderson led with two hits, and Carlson finished with two runs batted in.

Ferndale 9, Ellensburg 8 (8 innings)

The Golden Eagles scored in each of the first four innings, but the Bulldogs scored the exact amount as they tied the game up after each of the first four innings of play. Ferndale was finally held without a run in the top of the fifth, and Ellensburg took advantage and took an 8-7 lead. However, the Golden Eagles tied the game up in the top of the sixth when Joe Bense singled to center field which scored Fenton Vasak. After going into extra innings it was a sacrifice fly by Tracen Pazaski that scored Vasak which gave Ferndale the lead. Vasak then entered the game on the mound and proceeded to get the first three batters out. Bense and shortstop Braylon O’Breen each had a double and two singles to lead the Golden Eagles.

Kittitas 8, Nooksack Valley 1

The Pioneers were unable to get the offense off the ground against the Coyotes as they fell on the road while trying to pick up their first win of the season. Mathew Blake, Tyler Martin and Cole Bauman each pitched two innings for Nooksack Valley, and even though eight runs were scored, just three of them were earned. Bauman struck out five batters in his two innings of work. Blake and Landen Stauffer each had a hit for the Pioneers.

Lynden Christian 6, Squalicum 0

The Lyncs combined for a no-hitter against the Storm, with Trey Johnson pitching the first four innings, and he was relieved by Vance Elton and Jase Postma. Johnson struck out six batters, but did walk five. Lynden Christian got on the board when Eli Maberry’s single drove home Jayden Huleatt. Jaxon Huleatt then proceeded to score on a wild pitch, and Johnson’s sacrifice fly to right field scored Maberry. Jaxon Huleatt stole home to make it 4-0 in the fifth inning, and he then scored again in the seventh on an error, and Austin Engels scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Eli Stamps. Braiden Ortiz walked twice for the Storm.

Blaine 12, Coupeville 0

It was all Borderites who scored in every inning and allowed just one hit as they picked up the victory in their first game of the day. Senior catcher Evan Yates had three hits and three runs batted in to lead the Blaine offense, and he was aided by second baseman Brady Dohner who had two hits and two runs batted in. Aaron Garza, Elijah Wenger and Josh Cochran each scored three runs, while Connor Brown and Hugo Vekved combined for the shutout on the mound.

Ellensburg 12, Ferndale 9

The Golden Eagles scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning, but couldn’t complete the comeback in the second game of the double header against the Bulldogs. First baseman Carson Brown had double and drove in four runs to lead the Ferndale offense. Tracen Pazaski had a pair of hits and Braylon O’Breen walked four times and scored three runs.

Sehome 2, Cedarcrest 1 (9 innings)

The Mariners went to 3-1 on the season, and did it in dramatic fashion by winning their second game of the day. The Red Wolves went up 1-0 in the first inning, and it remained that way for the majority of the game until Sonny Myers scored on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the seventh inning. In the bottom of the ninth, Jackson Evans led off the inning and was hit by a pitch. Ben Ricks went into run for Evans as the lineup turned over and Hudson Neff was also hit by a pitch. Gunnar Tweit then attempted to move the runners over with a bunt, which he accomplished without a throw to any base as he ended up safe at first with a bunt single. The bases were loaded with no out, and Ryder McGrath came up to the plate. On a 1-2 count, Cedarcrest threw a wild pitch and Ricks flew into home plate for the game-winning score. Riley Carlson picked up his first varsity win on the mound by pitching the final three innings in relief. He struck out two and allowed just one hit.

Blaine 5, Mount Vernon Christian 3

It was a little tighter matchup than the earlier game for the Borderites, as they found themselves down 3-0, but scored five runs over the next three innings to stay unbeaten on the season. Sophomore southpaw Josh Cochran struck out 14 batters over six innings of work to pick up the win, and Brady Dohner closed the game out to get his first save of the season. Cochran also led offensively with two hits and two runs batted in, while sophomore shortstop Aaron Garza hit his second double of the season.

Columbia River 3, Lynden 0

The Lions were held without a hit, as they dropped their third consecutive game on their road trip. Pitcher Gavin Guttormson struck out four batters and gave up just three hits over four innings, but was saddled with the loss. Jax Baar finished the game on the mound and didn’t allow a hit over two innings.
