Ferndale's Nolan Boleak threw a complete-game shutout on his 17th birthday against Blaine.

The Lyncs held off the Mariners to pick up their fourth win in a row. Sehome led 1-0 after two innings, but Lynden Christian scored five in the top of the third, which was highlighted by a double off the bat of Eli Stamps which scored Austin Engels and Iggy Frost, which was followed up by a line-drive single from Vance Elton that scored Stamps and Sam Kok. Kok also tripled and picked up the win on the mound where he struck out eight batters over six innings. Sehome threatened in the top of the seventh inning, and scored a pair of runs before Eli Maberry was able to get the final three outs and pick up the save. Mariner shortstop Gunnar Tweit led his team with three hits and two runs batted in.

The Lions led 2-1 going into the final inning, and scored twice more in the top of the seventh to help secure the road win. Matthew Carroll struck out nine batters and allowed just three hits over six innings to pick up his first win of the season. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a triple to lead the offense. The lone run for the Bayhawks came when Eric Helfield’s double scored Alden Scott. Bellingham also got base hits from Joe Harward and C.R. Griffith.

It turned out to be the happiest of birthdays for Golden Eagle junior Nolan Boleak who pitched a 3-hit shutout and struck out 10 at home against the Borderites. He also led the offense with a pair of hits, with his second hit scoring the fourth run of the game to help his own cause on the mound. Ferndale also got a pair of runs batted in from freshman catcher Joe Bense. Blaine was led offensively by senior catcher Evan Yates who had two of his team’s three hits.

Burlington-Edison 1, Nooksack Valley 0

Pioneer junior Crew Bauman pitched an incredible game, as he allowed just three hits and struck out five while going the distance, but wasn’t able to get the run support as he took the loss at home. Nooksack Valley got hits from Mathew Blake, Colby Martin and Evan Brown, but wasn’t able to come around to score.

Mount Vernon 19, Squalicum 0

The youthful Storm struggled to find their first win of the season against the powerful Bulldogs at home. Squalicum third baseman Eljas Lara singled, walked and stole a base, but was the lone highlight of his team’s offense. Cameron Schmitt struck out four batters over four innings, but took the loss for the Storm.

Anacortes 18, Mount Baker 0

The Seahawks powered their way to 15 runs in the bottom of the second inning, which helped ease the way to the home win to begin conference play. The Mountaineers were able to reach base twice in the game when Sawyer McLemore walked and when Isaiah Bidwell was hit by a pitch.
