Bellingham 4, Sehome 2

The Bayhawks jumped out ahead early when Joe Harward’s single scored Alden Scott and Kai Nelson in the first inning. Bellingham scored twice more in the third inning on an error, and were able to hold on for the win. Scott pitched the first three innings to get the win, and Eric Helfield threw the final four innings to pick up the long save. Each pitcher struck out seven batters. Hudson Neff went six innings for the Mariners and struck out 10 batters.

The Borderites won their fourth straight game, and did it by the strong performance of sophomore southpaw Josh Cochran who went five innings and struck out 10 batters while allowing just three hits. Brady Dohner threw the final two innings, and also contributed with three runs batted in. Cochran drove in two, and senior catcher Evan Yates scored twice. The Storm got hits from Tanner Berg, Cameron Schmitt, Hudson Johnson and Henry Ingersoll.

Burlington-Edison 9, Ferndale 8

The Tigers scored twice in the top of the first, and the Golden Eagles answered with three of their own in the bottom of the inning. Burlington-Edison retook the lead in the third and held on until the bottom of the fifth with Ferndale tied the game at 7-7 when Carson Brown doubled in Chance Hatchett. The Tigers scored twice more in the top of the sixth, and Fenton Vasak scored in the bottom of the sixth on a groundout, but that would be the last run of the game as the Golden Eagles couldn’t complete the comeback at home. Vasak had two doubles and scored three runs.

Oak Harbor 8, Meridian 3

The Trojans scored two of their three runs in the first inning, but struggled to get consistent offense after that. Catcher Gabe Galbraith went 2-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base to lead Meridian, and sophomore hurler Nate Payne struck out seven batters and walked just one in the complete game effort.

Sedro-Woolley 9, Lynden 1

The Cubs held a slim 2-run advantage through the first three innings, but then exploded for five runs in the top of the fourth to break the game wide open. Sophomore shortstop Gordy Bedlington doubled in the bottom of the fourth, and later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dawson VanDalen. Gavin Guttormson struck out seven batters over four innings of work on the mound.

Anacortes 11, Lynden Christian 1

The strong Seahawks scored in every inning that was played as they took down the Lyncs at home. Lynden Christian’s lone run came in the top of the fourth when Sam Kok drove in Austin Engels. The Lyncs also got hits from Eli Maberry and Eli Stamps.

Mount Vernon 12, Nooksack Valley 0

The Bulldog offense was relentless on the road as they came up with another lopsided victory on the week. The Pioneers got hits from Tyler Martin, Colby Martin and Landen Satuffer. Matthew Blake went five innings and struck out seven batters.

NV: Stauffer 1-2; C. Martin 1-2; T. Martin 1-3.

 

Lakewood 20, Mount Baker 0

The Cougars batted around in the first inning and finished with nine runs to get the big advantage early, and they just steamrolled from there. The Mountaineers were able to manage just three hits.
