The Lions scored 16 runs for the third consecutive game, and did it over the first three innings as they took the win early in the morning at Sehome High School. Gavin Guttormson was extremely efficient as he struck out 10 batters, walked just one and gave up one hit over five innings to get the shutout win in the shortened five-inning contest. Dawson VanDalen and Conner LeBel each singled and doubled, and scored a pair of runs for Lynden. The Lions also got two runs batted in from VanDalen, Spencer Adams and Daniel Reyes, while Adams and Adason Holzer each scored three runs. The Mountaineers got a hit from Kamden Moa.

Freshman pitcher Tanner Blair had pitched just two innings prior to this game in his young varsity career, and against the Mountaineers he tossed a no-hitter in a six-inning contest, and struck out six batters to pick up his first career win. Another milestone was reached in the top of the sixth inning when senior second baseman Austin Engels hit a ball back up the middle for his third hit of the day, which broke the school record for career hits with 101. The previous record of 100 career hits was held for 29 years by Scott Romjue. Engels was 3-for-5 in the game with two doubles, four runs batted and three runs scored. Lynden Christian also got a pair of hits from Treyson Johnson and Eli Stamps. Mount Baker pitcher Magnus Melland struck out three batters over four innings but took the loss.

The Borderites walked it off in the bottom of the seventh when an error in the field allowed for Ashton Vezzetti to score from third base. Blaine’s first run of the game came in the bottom of the third when Josh Cochran’s single scored Landon Brown. The Pioneers tied it up in the top of the sixth as Evan Brown scored on a double off the bat of Mathew Blake. Cochran was 2-for-4 at the plate, but what was even more impressive was his performance on the mound. He went all seven innings, allowed three hits, walked just two and struck out 18 batters. Brown went the distance for Nooksack Valley, and kept his team in it the entire game.

The Lyncs pushed three runs across in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at 6-6. The score remained that way until the bottom of the seventh when LC’s Cole Larson came to the plate with the bases loaded. He put together a patient at-bat and drew the walk, allowing the game-winning run to reach home. Lync pitchers Treyson Johnson and Sam Kok combined to strike out six batters in the win, their 10th in a row. Kok also singled, tripled and drove in three runs to lead his team offensively. Pierce Brzozowski and Jaeger Fyfe each had three hits to lead the Trojan offense.

The Borderites finished their day with a squeaker over the Turks as the lone run of the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning when Aaron Garza’s double to left field scored Evan Yates from first base. Ashton Vezzetti picked up his second win of the season by hurling a four-hit shutout and striking out seven. Garza led the offense with two hits.

Meridian 4, Nooksack Valley 2
Nooksack Valley’s Evan Brown’s first-inning run was matched when Pierce Brzozowski singled in Trey Alexander tying the game at 1-1. The Trojans then found a groove in the second as Gabe Galbraith, Landon Rowley, and Brzozowski each touched home to push Meridian to a three-run lead. Pioneer Cole Bauman collected a triple and raced home on a passed ball to grab Nooksack Valley’s second run in the top of the seventh. Meridian’s Nate Payne struck out 10 batters across his six innings of work to pick up his first win of the season. Brown led all players with three hits.

The Mariners scored four runs in the top of third, and two more in the top of the sixth as they picked up the road win. Junior pitcher Hudson Neff threw the complete game and picked up his Whatcom County leading fourth victory of the season. Riley Carlson had two hits for Sehome, and Gunnar Tweit stole two bases, and scored two runs. The Mariners also took advantage of four Wildcat errors.

The Bayhawks managed just three hits, but drew 13 walks as that led to nine runs and the road victory. Junior Kai Nelson walked four times, and picked up the win on the mound as he struck out five batters over five innings. Ben Leonard pitched a flawless two innings of relief to pick up the save. Joe Harward drove in three runs to lead the offense as he, Alden Scott and Jasper Love each had a hit for Bellingham.

The Lions tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the sixth when Dawson VanDalen hit a single back up the middle which scored Spencer Adams, but the Vikings added two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Conner LeBel scored on a single from Eli Dimter in the top of the seventh, but the next three batters recorded outs, and the Lions fell by just one run on the road. VanDalen and Jaydin Oaks each had a pair of hits for Lynden, while Adams and Gordy Bedlington each doubled.
