Meridian 62, Nooksack Valley 54
After watching these two teams battle it out on the hardwood over the last few years, you just knew that it would be a physical battle.

With the season on the line, and 44 fouls later, the Trojans made the biggest plays in the biggest moments to survive.
One of those players that made the biggest plays was sophomore point guard Pierce Brzozowski who had a steal and a score early in the fourth quarter, a reverse layup while getting fouled a few minutes later and a corner three-pointer with 4:15 left in the game which gave Meridian a 56-44 lead.
Brzozowski, who is no stranger to pressure situations after starring in the state championship baseball game last spring as a freshman, finished with 14 points and a team-high four steals.
Driving and kicking out to Brzozowski on that three-pointer was senior guard Jaeger Fyfe who added 12 points.
Senior forward Talon Jenkins posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and senior center James Hedahl had 11 points and six boards.

Senior guard Canyon James played superb defense, and also led the Trojans with four assists.
The Pioneers missed key opportunities at the hoop throughout the game, and shot 2-of-14 from behind the three-point line.
Senior point guard Caden Heutink led his team with 17 points, and senior guard Cory Olney added 10 points and three steals.
Junior guard Owen Wichers led Nooksack Valley with five assists and senior center Lance VanBerkum pulled down a team-high nine rebounds as the season came to a close for the Pioneers.
The Trojans will still have to win one more game, a crossover game with an unknown District 2 opponent at King’s High School on Saturday at 5:00, for a chance to get back to the state tournament.
