For most teams, an 18-0 lead is pretty comfortable. The smaller Cougars had raced out in front by eighteen points in the first quarter by emphasizing a swarming defense, but two quarters later the Lions had closed the gap and pushed into the lead.

Adams

With six minutes to go in the third quarter, junior guard Brody Price drove to the hoop for a layup, and got fouled as he did. His free throw found nothing but net as Price collected the three-point play, tying the game. Four minutes later, senior forward Brant Heppner dropped the ball in for two points and the Lions grabbed a one-point lead.

The game clock had less than a minute left on it when Lakewood hit a 3-pointer to take the one-point lead. Lynden’s Spencer Adams matched it with 16 seconds to go, giving the Lions a two-point advantage. The Cougars then responded with a three-pointer of their own to go ahead by one and time ran out before Lynden could get another shoot off.

The Lions were led by Heppner’s 19 points and five assists. Adams finished with nine points and nine rebounds. Both players hit a trio of three-pointers.

Lynden is still alive and will now play at Mount Vernon High School on Saturday at 7:00 against the winner of tonight’s Archbishop Murphy/Burlington-Edison game.

The Golden Eagles saw their season come to an end as they were never able to make up the first half difference on the road against the Chargers.

Senior forward Tommy Mack had nine points and 10 rebounds to lead Ferndale, and senior forward Jonah Brillowsky also had nine points and six rebounds.

Junior guard Kaveer Dhillon came off the bench to add eight points, which included him shooting 2-of-3 from beyond the three-point arc.
