Senior forward Brant Heppner got things going early for the Lions as he quickly collected Lynden’s first eight points. The Lions held a slim three-point lead after the first quarter but the Lion defense was just getting started.

Junior guard Brody Price came off the bench as a catalyst for the defense as Lynden only allowed seven points in the second quarter.

The Lions scored 25 points in the third quarter, racing away with the lead. Another heavy scoring performance in the final quarter allowed Lynden to put in its reserves and secure its ticket to state.

Heppner ended the game with a team-high 32 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the line. Sophomore guard Gordy Bedlington had a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists, and junior forward Ty Jorgenson added nine points and three steals.

The Lions captured the top seed for the 2A state tournament, and will open up the regional round at Mount Vernon High School against Mark Morris at 6:00 on Saturday.

The Blackhawks kept up with the Red Devils through three quarters of action, and found themselves down by just two points.

The fourth quarter was a different story.

Lockdown defense and superior foul shooting allowed Lummi Nation to outscore Neah Bay 20-3 in the final period and walk away as the 1B Tri-District Champions.

Junior point guard Jerome Toby was a perfect 10-for-10 from the line and led the Blackhawks with 27 points, six rebounds and four steals.

He was aided by sophomore guard Dyson Edwards who finished with 18 points, four rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots.

Senior forward Karson Revey added 11 points.

The Blackhawks will face Moses Lake Christian/Covenant Christian at Mount Vernon High School on Friday at 6:00 in the regional round of the state tournament.

The Lyncs were without the services of Gannon Dykstra and Gunnar Dykstra, but they had plenty of firepower on hand as they dismantled the Eagles.

Five Lynden Christian players scored in double digits and leading the way was sophomore guard Dawson Hintz who finished with 17 points and six assists.

Junior forward Boyce Robertson shot 6-of-10 from the field and added 13 points, and senior forward Luke VanKooten poured in 12 points.

Junior guard Eli Maberry made both of his three-point attempts and finished with 10 points, and sophomore forward Kaden Veldman had 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots.

The Lyncs will face Seton Catholic at Mount Vernon High School on Saturday at 4:00 in the regional round of the state tournament.

The Trojans shot the lights out early and often, and finished with 11 three-pointers made at a robust clip of 45.8%. Couple that with a high-tenacity zone defense, and it spells victory.

Fyfe

Senior Jaeger Fyfe got hot early, and nailed a few of his trademark 28-footers, which pushed the momentum heavily on the side of Meridian. He finished with a team-high 24 points while also totaling six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

The Trojans also got double-doubles from seniors Talon Jenkins and James Hedahl. Jenkins posted 22 points, 11 rebounds and three assists while Hedahl battled in the paint for 11 points and 11 boards.

Sophomore guard Trey Alexander supplied nine points, and sophomore guard Pierce Brzozowski had a team-high five assists.

Meridian will now face Royal at Ellensburg High School on Friday night at 6:00 in the regional round of the state tournament.
