The Blackhawks battled through a physical Lion team, which enabled a game plan of strong perimeter double-teaming on junior point guard Jerome Toby, but Lummi Nation fought through it and picked up the tough win.

Lee

Although Toby was held to seven points, his five assists helped lead the Blackhawks to open looks.

Two of the main recipients were senior forwards Trevon Lee and Tony Abrams, who scored 10 points each to lead Lummi Nation. They also each made four of their five field goal attempts.

Another key to the victory was the defense of senior guard Karson Revey and sophomore guard Dyson Edwards. Revey was all over the court with three steals and three blocked shots, and Edwards finished with a team-high five steals.

With the victory, the Blackhawks are headed to the quarterfinal round of the state tournament at the Spokane Arena and will await their opponent which they will face on Thursday at 9:00 PM.

The Trojans made 16 shots and turned the ball over 22 times against the second-seeded Knights, and that spelled doom for Meridian.

Jenkins

Royal was also able to grab nine offensive rebounds, which enabled the Knights to receive multiple scoring opportunities.

Senior forward Talon Jenkins led the Trojans with 20 points and five rebounds while shooting 6-of-12 from the field, but was an uncharacteristic 0-for-6 from beyond the arc.

Senior guard Canyon James led the defense with five steals and four boards, and senior guard Jaeger Fyfe added 11 points.

Sophomore guard Pierce Brzozowski chipped in nine points, four steals and three rebounds.

Fyfe and senior center James Hedahl both battled foul trouble, as they each had three fouls before halftime, and both fouled out halfway through the fourth quarter.

The good news is that the Trojans’ season is still alive, but they will have to travel to Yakima a day early to take on the winner of today’s Overlake/Riverside game at the SunDome on Wednesday at 5:30.
