After trading baskets back and forth, the Mariners took a one-point lead to end the first quarter when junior point guard Nolan Wright buried a three-pointer.

However, the Lions found their groove in the second quarter and charged ahead on a 12-1 run and took a 13-point lead at the half.

The Mariners continued to battle in the third quarter, matching the Lions to begin the third quarter but the Lions had expanded their lead by another eight points by the quarter’s end.

Turrell

Calling on the numbers of the bench, the scoring slowed down but not before Lynden could tack another six points onto its lead.

Senior forward Brant Heppner had 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists to lead the Lions. Junior forward Ty Jorgenson was 8-for-11 from the field and finished with 17 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots.

Sehome junior center Cole Turrell scored 14 points to lead the Mariners, and junior forward Xavier Kelley pulled down a team-high 16 rebounds, nine of which came on the offensive glass.

Singh

The Golden Eagles led 26-21 at halftime after going on a 13-5 run in the second quarter, but the Cubs outscored Ferndale 38-22 in the second half to pick up the win at home.

Senior forward Jonah Brillowsky had a one-handed dunk with 3:30 left in the third quarter, which gave the Golden Eagles a 32-29 lead, but Sedro-Woolley caught fire at the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Junior forward Mantaj Singh led Ferndale with 17 points, and senior forward Hunter Wills finished with 13 points.

Brillowsky added nine points.
