Mount Baker 59, Blaine 40
The Mountaineers’ 37 rebounds topped that of the Borderites’ 25 rebounds, and made the difference in the tight matchup. At the helm of the rebounding efforts was Mount Baker senior forward Darius Gilstrap with 14 rebounds.
The Mountaineers were able to pull ahead early scoring seven unanswered points near the end of the first quarter but a 9-1 run by Blaine brought the game back within a point. At halftime, Baker held a small two-point lead.
Those two points became big during the third quarter as the teams traded back-and-forth baskets. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the Mountaineers were able to spring ahead and race out to their biggest lead of the game, climbing out ahead by 19 points at the most crucial time and putting an end to any Borderite comeback hopes.
Gilstrap also led Mount Baker with 15 points, and he was closely followed by senior forward Luke Smith who scored 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting.
Junior point guard Jordan Bailey was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, and finished with 13 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Blaine was led by the 16 points of junior forward Landon Melton. Senior guard Jacob Dohner added eight points, and senior guard Beckum Bleazard pulled down eight rebounds.

The Lions held a strong 36-22 lead at the half, and were then able to hold off the surging Cubs in the second half to remain undefeated on the season.
Senior forward Brant Heppner shot 10-for-17 from the floor, was a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line, and finished with a team-high 27 points, 13 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Junior guard Spencer Adams nailed three of his five 3-point attempts and finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard Malachi Koenen had nine points on a perfect 3-of-3 from downtown, and fellow sophomore guard Gordy Bedlington dished out nine assists.

Squalicum 46, Cedarcrest 29
The Strom grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, forced 16 turnovers and held the Red Wolves to just 24% shooting from the field as Squalicum won the non-conference game at home.
Sophomore guard Hunter Calloway shook off a cold shooting night from the outside and still led his team with 14 points.
Senior forwards Ezra Nichols and Jaxon Hofer added eight points each. Hofer also posted eight rebounds and four assists.
Senior guard Marcus Nixon finished with six points, seven boards, four assists and four steals.
