It was a great opener for one of the youngest Lions teams in school history. Freshman Markus Koenen scored the lone goal, while sophomore Tyler Grace and freshman Austin Postma split each half in the net to combine for the shutout against the 4A squad on the road.

 

King’s 3, Meridian 0

Last year’s district champions began their season with a tough task on the road against the talented Knights, and came up scoreless. The Trojans will be back in action on Tuesday night at Sehome.

 

Anacortes 3, Ferndale 0

The Seahawks spoiled the home opener for the Golden Eagles by picking up the late win. It was a scoreless tie until less than 11 minutes left in regulation when the Seahawks scored their first goal of the game. They then went on to score two more goals late to secure the victory. Ferndale will host Squalicum on Tuesday night.
