The Lions moved to 2-0 on the young season as they got goals from Victor Huaracha, Malachi Koenen, Tatius Robinson and Justin Steiner.
Bellingham 1, Nooksack Valley 0
Bayhawk senior Carson Brethauer scored the lone goal to give Bellingham the victory. Senior Kaiden Whitmore was in goal for the Bayhawks.
Ferndale 2, Squalicum 2
The Golden Eagles struck first on a penalty kick from Coen Braun who earned it by getting tackled in the box. The Storm answered almost immediately with a goal from senior Alex Benyi. Still in the first half, Broen found Evan Saxman who scored Ferndale’s second goal of the game. Golden Eagle goalie Josh Ruble made save after save in the second half as Squalicum went on the attack. Storm junior Isaac Grimes was awarded a penalty kick in the final five minutes, which was converted to tie the game at 2-2.
Sehome 4, Meridian 1
Rudy Zurcher scored a goal and had two assists to lead the Mariners past the Trojans to start 2-0 on the season. Sehome also got goals from Liam Schumacher, Mason Ivcevic and Sam Rosbach, with Rosbach and Julian Herring each also picking up an assist. Meridian’s goal came from Skyler Rowe who was assisted by Damion Hayes.
Oak Harbor 2, Blaine 1
After a Wildcat goal in the first half, the Borderites answered back with a goal from Wade Lottimer which was assisted by Dmitry Yuryev. Oak Harbor scored again in the second half to take the lead, and was able to hold on to it as Blaine took some risks in the second half to try and score the tying goal but came up empty.
Sedro-Woolley 3, Lynden Christian 1
A penalty kick from sophomore Harvest Howell proved to be the lone goal of the game for the Lyncs on the road. Freshman goalkeeper Gavin VanLoo recorded 12 saves for Lynden Christian.
