Lynden 4, Lynden Christian 3
The Lions got off to a hot start by scoring three runs before the Lyncs could get up to bat. Melanie Anderson scored from third base on a passed ball, and Kaiah Tull quickly scored a few pitches later when Campbell DeJong’s single reached the outfield. The speedy DeJong then stole a few bases, and then scored on an error for the third run of the inning. Lynden Christian got on the board in the fourth inning when Brook VanLoo drove in Jayden DeRuyter, and sophomore Taya Vander Kooi then hit a solo homerun to centerfield in the following inning to make it a one-run game. Lynden got a very important insurance run in the top of the seventh inning on a double steal with Kasey DeJong crossing home plate. The Lyncs threatened in the bottom of the seventh with two outs when Kassidy VanSoest reached base on an error, and DeRuyter came in to run for her. Taylor Craig then singled to score DeRuyter, but the following batter grounded out to end the game. Lion pitcher Callie Ramerman struck out seven batters and picked up the win.
