The Mountaineers climbed out to a huge 20-6 lead after the first quarter, and were able to fend off the Borderites and move on to the district tournament semifinal round.
It was a tall order for Blaine as it had to contend with the return of 6-foot-2 sophomore center Rebeca Soares who had missed the last five games, which Mount Baker went 0-5.

Soares made her presence known early with nine points in the first quarter alone, and she finished with 24 points, 19 rebounds, three blocked shots and three steals.
Junior forward Reace Brown and freshman guard Kalyn Abitia added five points each to aid the Mountaineers.
The Borderites were led by guards Kate Koreski and Brietta Sandell. Koreski finished with nine points, eight rebounds and three assists, and Sandell added nine points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Sophomore guard Marcella Bring chipped in seven points for Blaine, who’s season came to a close.

With the season on the line, the Bayhawks took care of business at home by taking an early leading an never looking back.
Junior forward Mary Lockhart enjoyed her biggest game of the season as she finished with 18 points, nine rebounds and three steals to lead Bellingham to victory.
Junior forward Abby Morell had eight points on 4-of-5 shooting, along with six rebounds and three steals, and freshman Elise Holland added eight points, four boards and four steals.
Junior guard Avery Manning had six points and three steals, and senior guard Malia Hanks did a little bit of everything as she totaled five points, six steals, five rebounds and five assists.
