Lummi Nation 58, Crosspoint Christian 47
It just so happens that the highest scoring quarter for the Blackhawks was the lowest scoring quarter for the Wildcats. The second quarter proved to be pivotal as the 11-point win elevated Lummi Nation into the Tri-District Championship on Saturday night.

The Blackhawks went on a 10-0 run to start the second quarter, which forced a timeout from Crosspoint Christian.
Of those 10 points, sophomore point guard Jemma James had eight of them, which included back-to-back three-pointers just a minute into the second period.
She finished the game by hitting 4-of-6 from downtown while also leading Lummi Nation with 21 points and four assists.
Another big reason for the Blackhawk’s success was rebounding, as they totaled a remarkable 47 boards as a team.
Junior guard Ailina Rabang led charge with 16 rebounds to go with her 17 points, and freshman center Celestine James came off the bench to grab 11 rebounds.
Junior guard Brianna Metteba led the defense with six steals, and she also shot 7-of-14 from the field for 16 points, and even though junior guard Kashlyn Mack had to sit for the majority of the first half due to foul trouble, she still registered seven rebounds and three steals.
The Blackhawks will go for the Tri-District Championship on Saturday at 5:00 against top-seeded Neah Bay at the Muckleshoot Community Center.

Burlington-Edison 50, Squalicum 31
The dream run for the Storm came to an abrupt end at Mount Vernon High School as the youthful Squalicum squad couldn’t keep up with the more experienced Tigers.

The overall athleticism kept the Storm in the game in the first half, especially defensively, but the second half told a different story as missed shots, turnovers and fouls started adding up fast, and Burlington-Edison ripped off nearly twice as many points in the second half than it did in the first half.
Freshman guard Kailana Perez led Squalicum with 11 points, while sophomores Carli Kiesau and Tiana Thompson finished with six points each.
The lone Storm senior Loretta Murphy-Kangas chipped in five points.
The season ended with a record of 13-10, it was the first time in school history that the Squalicum girls have had double-digit wins in three consecutive seasons. And, how many years has Jenalyn Brown been the coach? Three? It’s safe to say that the future looks bright for this squad.
