  • Meridian 58, Nooksack Valley 42

Neal

The Trojans led by just two points as the fourth quarter began, and the Meridian back court duo of Brooklyn Fuller and Kinsley Neal took over in the final period as they combined for 13 points while holding the Pioneers to just three points before capturing the conference win on the road.

Neal buried five three-pointers and finished with 15 points, which is a new season-high for her.

Fuller added 12 points, which marked the fifth time this season she reached double-digits in scoring.

DeHoog

Senior forward Sofia Brooks scored eight points, and freshman guard Melanie Short added seven points.

Nooksack Valley was led by junior center Grace DeHoog who posted her ninth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Kate Shintaffer finished with 11 points.

The swarming Trojan defense harassed the perimeter all game, which forced the Pioneers to take just seven 3-point shots. Three of them were made.

The Storm came into the game averaging just over 43 points scored per game. The Squalicum offense went off and put up 41 points at the half, as the Storm defense took control in the second half to secure the blowout win.

Sophomore forward Tiana Thompson had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, to lead her team in both categories.

Senior center Loretta Murphy-Kangas scored a season-high 16 points as she shot 7-of-11 from the field, while sophomores Lexi Robbins and Addison Kettman added 10 points each.

Freshman guard Kailana Perez also had a career-high with eight assists.

The Cougars jumped out to a 22-9 lead at home, and the Bayhawks were forced to chase the rest of the game.

Senior guard Malia Hanks was 5-of-11 from the field and finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists, all of which led her team.

Senior guard Jenny Ruano had 11 points, four rebounds and four steals, and junior forward Mary Lockhart scored eight points.

Sophomore forward Merritt Jensen added seven points, seven rebounds and four steals.
