Davis

The Mountaineers hung with the two-time defending state champions on the road for the first three quarters, and found themselves down by just six points, but the Pioneer defense turned into quick offense in the fourth as Nooksack Valley came away with its 10th win of the season.

Leading the defensive charge for the Pioneers was senior Kate Shintaffer and junior Chayleigh Davis as the two combined for 11 steals.

Brown

Offensively, junior guard Payton Bartl was on fire as she drained 5-of-7 from beyond the three-point arc and finished with a game-high 23 points. Davis wasn’t far behind with 18 points, including half of them in the final quarter when it was needed the most.

Junior center Grace DeHoog added 12 points and six rebounds.

Mount Baker was led by junior forward Reace Brown who scored 13 points. Freshman forward Aurora George nailed a trio of three-pointers and finished with 11 points, and sophomore center Rebeca Soares chipped in 10 points.

D. Dykstra

It was all Lyncs on the road as they jumped out to a 33-7 lead at the half before cruising to their 14th win of the season.

It was a balanced performance as senior guard Danya Dykstra led Lynden Christian with 12 points, and had outscored Anacortes in first half by herself, 9-7.

Junior guard Estela Hernandez finished with 11 points, including nine in the final quarter, while junior guard Ella Fritts and senior forward Allison Shumate chipped in 10 points each.

In a rare statistical oddity, the Lyncs didn’t hit a free throw the entire game, and is now 1-for-9 going back to the previous game. I can only imagine that will get turned around quickly.
