The Hurricanes went on a 19-4 run in the second quarter, and the Blackhawks were never able to recover from it as Mount Vernon Christian picked up the win at home.
Lummi Nation was down early, but made some deep shots to get back into it, and trailed 18-14 going into the pivotal second quarter.
The Hurricanes had the size advantage, and used it down low to pick up numerous offensive rebounds. They also splashed home 10 three-pointers which helped them pull away.
Sophomore guard Jemma James led her team with 13 points, while junior guard Brianna Metteba scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds, and junior guard Kashlyn Mack added eight points, five boards, four assists and three steals.
