  • Meridian 56, Mount Baker 48

Fuller

Meridian grabbed the lead early but it wasn’t easy to maintain. Leading by three points after the first quarter, the Trojans outscored the Mountaineers 18-13 to lead by eight at the half.

Tight defense in the third quarter limited scoring but Meridian charged ahead on a 7-0 run to push even further ahead. However, with the clock counting down on the final quarter of play, the Mountaineers surged a comeback, knocking down 20 points and closing the gap. But with the Trojans hitting their free throws, Meridian held on to the lead until the final buzzer.

Soares

The Trojans were led in scoring by freshman Melanie Short who scored 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Sophomore Eden Bernardy added 12 points and four rebounds, and senior point guard Brooklyn Fuller had 11 points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists.

Sophomore center Rebecca Soares led Mount Baker with 29 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and three assists. She was aided by junior forward Reace Brown who finished with seven points and six rebounds.

York

It was another strong game for the Lions on the road, as Lynden remained unbeaten on the season.

Junior forward Payton Mills scored 18 points to lead the Lions, and she was closely followed by sophomore guard Finley Parcher who scored 17 points, 15 of which came in the first half.

Senior forward Kiki York finished with 11 points, and junior forward Rian Stephan added seven points.

  • Nooksack Valley 58, Bellingham 26

Bartl

The Pioneers took a 31-11 lead at the half, and didn’t look back from there as they grabbed the road victory.

Hanks

Nooksack Valley junior guard Payton Bartl was on point all game as she hit four of her seven 3-point attempts and finished with a game-high 20 points.

It was also another double-double for junior center Grace DeHoog who finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and junior guard Chayleigh Davis had 11 points, five steals, four rebounds and four assists.

Bayhawk sophomore forward Merritt Jensen led her team with eight points and seven rebounds. Senior guard Malia Hanks added seven points and six steals for Bellingham.

The Blackhawks weren’t able to get a shot off in the final seconds, and fell to the Billy Goats in the final day of the Mount Vernon Christian Tournament.

Lummi Nation led 22-12 at halftime, and still held a double-digit lead with six minutes remaining in the third quarter, but Pateros went on a 13-2 run, and eventually tied the game up.

The Billy Goats continued their hot shooting in the fourth quarter, and begun to separate themselves from the Blackhawks, but sophomore guard Jemma James hit three straight foul shots with 1:11 left in the game to tie it up at 44-44.

Pateros hit a short banker, and a few foul shots late to seal the win.

James finished with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Junior guards Ailina Rabang and Kashlyn Mack each ended up with 12 points and eight rebounds.
