  • Squalicum 49, Ferndale 35

Thompson

Ferndale scored the opening bucket before the Storm collected nine straight points. The Golden Eagles were ready for the battle and fought back, tying the game to start the second quarter. However, Squalicum charged up another run and entered the half up eight points.

Another strong quarter for the Storm gave them a 20-point lead with under a quarter to go. However, a 6-0 run by Ferndale made a dent in the gap and pushed the final score closer together.

Washington

Sophomore forward Tiana Thompson led Squalicum with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting, and she also finished with a team-high five steals.

Sophomore guards Lexi Robbins and Carli Kiesau each finished with nine points, and sophomore center Jazmin Singh-Sanchez grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were led by junior Kayla Washington who had 13 points and nine rebounds, and she was closely followed by junior forward Jillea Fox who finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three blocks.

The Trojans are known for knocking down long shots, but it wasn’t their night as the Lyncs drained 10 three-pointers on their way to the home win.

Seven different Lynden Christian players connected on a deep ball, and junior guard Ella Fritts hit both of her attempts from beyond the arc as she led her team with 15 points.

Short

Senior forward Allison Shumate did her work in the paint and hit six of her seven attempts as she finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Meridian freshman Melanie Short led her team with nine points, while senior guard Brooklyn Fuller added four assists and sophomore Maddy Swanson finished with three steals.
