BELLINGHAM – Following a tightly contested match two night ago, the Trojans took care of business on Thursday night at home by defeating Sehome three sets to none, 25-9, 25-13 and 25-7.
Balance was the key, and Meridian had a .329 hitting percentage on the night. Junior Finnley Claeys led the way with 11 kills (.435), 13 digs and two aces, and fellow junior Jolena Hoefer totaled nine kills (.350), 10 digs and an ace. Freshman Emry Claeys contributed with eight kills as well.
Trojan senior Brynn Neal starred defensively with 11 digs and junior Malaysia Smith led the balanced attack with 25 assists to go along with four aces.
Meridian (1-1) will travel to Ferndale (1-0) to take on the Golden Eagles on Monday at 7:00. The Mariners (0-2) will try to regroup on Monday at 7:00 as they’ll be hosting Mount Baker (0-2).
