BELLINGHAM – The offense improved from last week, and the defense improved from last week, but the result remained the same as Bellingham was defeated 34-6 by West Seattle on Friday night at Civic Stadium.

The Wildcats got off to a quick start, scoring four touchdowns in the first half, and the Bayhawks stayed even with them in the second half.

Senior Johnny Twedt led in rushing (22 yards) and receiving (four receptions, 32 yards), and junior quarterback Max Rasset was able to get spread the wealth by getting seven different receivers involved in the game.

A corner route by senior tight end Daniel Reyes resulted in a 19-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, on a perfectly thrown ball by Rasset for Bellingham’s first offensive touchdown of the season.

The Bayhawks also battled injuries up front, as their two best linemen, senior Matthew Butenschoen and junior Javen Livas, both had to leave the game prematurely.

The defense was led by Reyes who had a team-high 10 tackles, and junior outside linebacker Logan Steeves who broke up three passes.

Bellingham (0-2) will attempt to get on track on Friday night when South Whidbey (2-0) comes to town to battle the Bayhawks at 5:00 at Civic Stadium.

  1. Seniors Jordan Mccormack & Nathan Gass did a great job battling on the Bayhawk line ! Gass had to step in at center & McCornack starting right guard move to tackle and Defensive end in the second half as Bayhawks did a great job against a big west Seattle team
