BELLINGHAM – No team in Whatcom County has shown as much improvement from week one to week six as Bellingham, and the Red Raiders continued their fantastic play with a 41-0 win over Anacortes at Civic Stadium on Friday night.
A running clock the entire second half, and scoring more points than yards given up. It was that kind of night for the Bellingham offense and defense. It was apparent right off the bat as Bellingham ran 20 plays for 182 yards in the first quarter. Anacortes had ran six plays for negative one yard.
It also became a game of “Can you top this?” by running backs Jack Fields and Towner Goodman. Every time Fields would score a touchdown, Goodman would follow up with one of his own. Fields may have ended up with more yards (149 yards on 16 carries), but Goodman got his third touchdown of the game through the air on a perfectly thrown ball by quarterback Morgan Cavalier.
Goodman finished with 92 yards rushing on 10 carries.
The Red Raider defense played its best game of the season, holding the Seahawks to just 39 total yards. Senior defensive back Spencer Lee intercepted his second pass of the season, and the seventh of his brilliant career.
Bellingham (who is 4-2 for the first time since 2002) will face Mountlake Terrace (4-2) on Friday night at 8:00 PM.
