BLAINE – A six-run fourth inning blew the gates wide open for the Borderites as they opened up their season with a rain-shortened 7-1 win against Granite Falls on Tuesday.

Blaine senior Mikael Elliott started on the mound, and he gave up just one run in his three innings of work. He finished the game off at shortstop, and went 1-for-3 with a 2-run triple. Fellow senior Cam Ellis shut down the Tigers, pitching the final two innings and getting the win while striking out two, and not allowing a hit.

Junior third baseman Hayden Dohner went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and senior catcher Kai Nagle also hit a double.

The Borderites (1-0) will host Meridian (1-0) today at 4:30 PM.
