OAK HARBOR – Ferndale’s monster run game came alive in a 41-7 Golden Eagle victory over Oak Harbor on Saturday evening.

Ferndale totaled 417 yards on the ground, as the traditional Wing-T offense was already in mid-season form, but early on it was two deep passes from senior Haiden Rasmussen to junior Thomas Broselle as they connected on a pair of 40-plus yard touchdowns in the first quarter.

Broselle

Broselle also scored on a dazzling 80-yard touchdown run in the second quarter after taking the second handoff of the play. The speedy junior finished with 224 all-purpose yards while touching the ball just eight times.

Carlson

Sophomore sensation halfback Isaiah Carlson showed off his speed as he rambled for 144 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns, and junior fullback bullied his way up the middle for 84 yards on 11 carries, including a 39-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

Junior linebacker Jazen Guillory and sophomore defensive tackle Landen Hatchett carried the Golden Eagle defense, which gave up a fair amount of yards, but was able to keep the Wildcats from out of the end zone for most of the evening.

Ferndale (1-0) will host Lynden (1-0) this Friday at 7:00.
