Big Third Quarter Dooms Blaine on the Road

PORT ANGELES – The Borderites played evenly with the Roughriders through the beginning of the third quarter, when senior quarterback Kael Evinger scoredfrom a yard out, and Sam Stiles’ extra point tied the game at 13.

The rest of the quarter went south for Blaine, as Port Angeles scored three quick touchdowns, and ultimately won 33-19 on Friday night.

Creasey

The Borderites drove down the field with relative ease to open the game, and running back Larry Creasey scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. The senior finished with 83 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Sophomore Colby Shipp ripped off a few long runs on Blaine’s final drive of the game, including a dazzling 25-yard touchdown. He racked up 70 yards on the game with just 10 carries.

In his first varsity action at quarterback, Evinger completed 9-of-16 passes for 98 yards, completing passes to seven different players.

Defensively, the Borderites were led by Shipp who had 11.5 tackles, and junior cornerback Justin Minjaraez had an interception. Junior safety Riley Ihde had 7.5 tackles and junior defensive back Jesse Deming had seven tackles and a stop behind the line.

Blaine (0-1) will host Sehome (1-0) this Friday at 7:00.
