BLAINE – The opening kickoff return was muffed, but recovered. On the next play, the first play from scrimmage, the exchange from the center to the quarterback was fumbled and recovered by the defense. Blaine just couldn’t get out of its own way to begin the game at the were defeated 21-0 by Lord Tweedsmuir (BC) on Friday night.
The Panthers would score just moments later, and they jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter. The Borderites played catch up the entire game, and had to go to the air often. Junior quarterback completed 11-of-30 passes for 102 yards. Senior wide receiver Kavika Hee led his team with six receptions for 64 yards.
Junior running back Joshua Lopez got the bulk of the carries, rushing for 65 yards on 20 attempts.
Senior inside linebacker Gavino Rodriguez led the defensive charge as he was in on 10 tackles, including 2.5 of them behind the line of scrimmage.
Blaine (1-1) will travel to Lynden Christian (1-0) to take on the Lyncs on Friday night.
