BLAINE – The run-heavy Eagles totaled 234 yards on the ground as Cedar Park Christian defeated Blaine 33-15 on Friday night.
The Eagles did complete one pass in the game, on a halfback jump-pass for a 7-yard touchdown, which was the first score of the game. The score lasted at 7-0 until halftime.
Cedar Park Christian scored another touchdown to begin the second half, and the Borderites quickly countered with an 80-yard hookup from senior quarterback Kael Evinger to junior wide receiver Hunter Vezzetti for a touchdown.
Unfortunately for the Blaine faithful, the Eagles went on to score the following three touchdowns to put the game out of reach.
Sophomore running back Jaiden Paez scored the final touchdown for the Borderites on a 36-yard run around left end.
Blaine was led defensively by senior defensive end Jacob Voigt who had 10 tackles, including one quarterback sack and incredibly six tackles for loss. Junior safety Riley Ihde had 7.5 tackles, junior nose tackle Victor Gervol had seven tackles and a forced fumble and sophomore safety Colby Shipp intercepted a pass.
The Borderites finished the year with a 1-9 record.
