BLAINE – The offense had a tough time getting going, and wasn’t able to record a first down until the second quarter. And, before that first down, Sedro Woolley had already scored 29 points. The Cubs ended up defeating Blaine 42-2 on Friday night at Borderite Field.
Senior running back Oscar Caridad ran hard all night, and picked up 119 well-earned yards on 28 carries. However, the Borderites failed to get into the end zone for the fourth time in the last five games.
Senior Gavino Rodriguez split time between inside linebacker and defensive end and had an terrific game on defense. He was in on 14 tackles (10 solo), three sacks and another tackle for loss. He also scored the only points for Blaine on a safety near the end of the game. Defensive lineman Wyatt Cole also had three tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
The Borderites (5-1) will play their final home game of the year this Friday against Lakewood (1-5).
