BLAINE – In a night full of excitement, with a charged crowd, the Borderites defeated the Mariners in three straight sets on Wednesday night, 25-14, 25-22 and 27-25.
Junior captains Anika Hagen and Gillian Rea led Blaine throughout the evening, but individual statistics were not available.
“Our team served very well,” said Borderite coach Jacquie Smith. “We came together to fight for every point.”
Blaine (1-0) will travel to Sedro Woolley (1-0) on Tuesday night to take on the Cubs, and Sehome (0-2) will play its home opener on Tuesday night against Mount Vernon.
