ANACORTES – The Seahawks showed that they are still every bit the team they were last year as they defeated Bellingham 49-0 at home on Friday night.
Anacortes was extremely strong in all phases of the game, mixing speed with power and aggression throughout the evening.
The Seahawks averaged over 13 yards per play, and they held the Bayhawks to just 3.3 yards per play.
Anacortes a trio of touchdowns in each of the first two quarters, and finished it off with its seventh touchdown of the night in the final stanza.
Bellingham junior quarterback Joe Harward led his team in rushing with 24 yards on 10 carries before giving way to junior Owen Hanstead in the second half. Hanstead completed 4-of-9 for 57 yards.
Junior wide receiver Myllo Wright led the Bayhawks in receiving with three catches for 44 yards.
Senior linebacker Gabe VanHofwegen led the defense with 6.5 tackles, including a tackle for loss. Hanstead chipped in with four tackles and a tackle behind the line of scrimmage from his safety position.
Bellingham (0-3) will be back home at Civic Stadium on Friday and it will face Archbishop Murphy (3-0) at 7:00.
