MARYSVILLE – As the number two seed in the 3A district volleyball tournament, the Golden Eagles received a bye into the second round. Last night they faced the seventh seeded Mavericks of Meadowdale, and defeated them by an identical score of 25-21 in three straight sets.
However, there was nothing identical about the final set.
Ferndale overcame an 11-point deficit in the third set for the comeback victory. Senior Kaelee Bungard provided her usual amazing leadership and amassed 12 kills, 11 digs and three aces. Fellow senior Avery Schneider added 13 kills of her own, and the Golden Eagles will now face Snohomish on Thursday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School at 7:00.
