LAKE STEVENS – It was a rough go at it for the Golden Eagles who were defeated by Lake Stevens 63-6 on Friday night.
The Viking offense was relentless, and totaled 438 yards on just 31 plays.
Ferndale sophomore halfback Elliott Lenssen scored the lone touchdown for the Golden Eagles on a three yard run early in the quarter, which capped off an 11-play drive which covered 76 yard which featured a 45-yard pitch and catch from junior quarterback Nolan Boleak to senior wingback Eli Kennerley.
Ferndale did total 206 yards rushing on the game, and was once again led by senior fullback Talan Bungard who finished with a team-high 61 yards on 17 carries, which put him over 1,000 yards rushing for the second consecutive season.
Junior linebacker Jon Stanek led the defensive with five tackles, while he and senior linebacker Lincoln Thomas each registered a tackle behind the line of scrimmage.
The Golden Eagles (3-4) will be back in conference play on Friday when they host Sedro-Woolley (6-1) at 7:00.
