STANWOOD – 82 total points and over 1000 yards from scrimmage… it was an offensive kind of night. But, it was the consistency of Ferndale’s offense that allowed it to get a victory over Stanwood, 56-26 at Bob Larson Stadium on Friday night.

Ferndale gave up a 27-yard touchdown pass on the opening drive by the Spartans, but quickly went to work, and scored three quick touchdowns in the first quarter alone.

Fox

The Golden Eagles gobbled up 482 yards on the ground behind an offensive line that worked extremely hard all game. From left to right, it was Edmond Slimane, Geirean Hatchett, Brett Westford, Darius Washington, Uriah Guillory and tight end Tyler Hoffmaster opening up massive holes for the Ferndale running backs.

Senior fullback Gader Fox benefited the most from them. In seven of his 12 carries he ran for at least 14 yards, breaking long run after long run. He ultimately totaled a season-high 235 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 38 yards.

D. Washington

Junior Jacob Broselle also had his best game of the season, rushing for 133 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns. He also returned the second half kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, his second kick return for a score in as many weeks. Senior running back Bryan Ebe also ran for 66 yards and a touchdown.

The defense gave up its share of yardage, but it also came up with turnover when needed. Guillory and Ebe each intercepted a pass, and the Golden Eagle front seven made key tackles that forced multiple turnovers on downs. Washington was in the backfield all game, with two tackles for loss and a quarterback sack. Junior defensive end Colby Tegt also had a pair of sacks.

Senior quarterback Sequoyah Julius was sharp with his passing, completing 5-of-7 passes, including a 16-yarder for a touchdown to senior Watiko Leighton.

The Golden Eagles (3-5) will travel to Meadowdale (3-5) this Friday night and take on the Mavericks at Edmonds District Stadium at 8:00.
