YAKIMA – Annie Wright came back from being down three points in the fourth quarter to defeat the two-time defending state champion Lynden Christian Lyncs in the semifinal round of the 1A boys state basketball tournament.
The Gators used their starting lineup for virtually the entire game, as well as a lockdown defense and a slowdown offense to methodically pick up the victory to send them to their first state championship appearance.
Annie Wright held a 27-20 lead at the half, but the Lyncs came back in the third quarter by outscoring the Gators 16-6.
Senior forward Jeremiah Wright led Lynden Christian with 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Junior guard Gannon Dykstra finished with 13 points and senior guard Dawson Bouma added 12 points.
The Lyncs will face Seattle Academy tomorrow at 11:15 for third place in the state.
