BELLINGHAM – In a grueling match, that went the distance, The Trojans were able to keep their undefeated season alive by beating Kennedy Catholic three sets to two at Meridian High School on Saturday afternoon.
After losing a close first set 25-23, the Trojans came back to win 29-27 in the second set. The Lancers won the third set 25-18, but Meridian came back to win the next two, 25-23 and 15-12.
Senior Finnley Claeys had a huge game with 19 kills (hitting .378), 21 digs and two aces, and senior Malaysia Smith had a triple double with 46 assists, 11 kills and 17 digs.
The Trojans hit .286 as a team, and totaled an amazing 101 digs.
Jolena Hoefer added 17 kills and 12 digs, and Avery Neal dug out 35 of her own. Up front, Emry Claeys contributed eight kills and Skyleigh James had five kills.
Meridian (11-0) hosts Sultan (5-7) on Monday at 7:00.
