EVERETT – A week ago, Lynden Christian was only able to muster up 23 yards rushing, in a 14-8 loss at Lakeside-Nine Mile Falls. It was a different tune at Terry Ennis Stadium on Friday night as the Lyncs ran the ball 39 times for 176 yards on their way to defeating Archbishop Murphy 31-7.

Owen

Hollis Owen was the catalyst of the LC ground game, as the powerful junior rumbled for a career-high 119 yards on 27 carries and three touchdowns.

His first two touchdowns came in the wildcat formation with him taking the direct snap from center, running behind a full wall of Lync blockers.

His third touchdown of the game came in the fourth quarter, as he began wearing out the Wildcat defenders, and he charged ahead for his longest gain of the evening, a 25-yarder to pay dirt.

Stuit

Lynden Christian also scored through the air in the second quarter when senior quarterback Jeremiah Wright tossed a pass down the right sideline for Kayden Stuit. The pass appeared to be over Stuit’s head, and headed for the sideline, but the 6-foot-4 230-pound senior tight end stuck his right paw high above his head, as if he was taking a cookie out of the cookie jar off the top shelf, and he hauled in the pass and scored from 36 yards out.

Junior kicker Gunnar Parriera concluded the scoring for LC with a 32-yard field goal.

The Lyncs were aided defensively by Trey Bosman and Stuit. The two inside linebackers combined for 18 tackles, and each had a tackle for loss. Stuit also forced a fumble and Bosman knocked down two passes.

Lynden Christian (1-1) will play its first home game next Saturday at 2:00 when it hosts Bellevue Christian (0-1).
