BUCKLEY – In a great test before heading into the Northwest Conference schedule, the Lions came up short losing three close sets, 21-25, 22-25 and 24-26, against the Hornets on Friday night.
Sophomore outside hitter Haylee Koetje had an impressive performance, totaling 11 kills, three aces and nine digs, while fellow sophomore Ashley Shumate added 10 kills of her own.
Junior Joslyn Sipma hit .500 with five kills and sophomore setter Grace Rice set up her teammates with 23 assists.
The youthful Lions (0-1) will host Mount Vernon this Thursday at 7:00.
