YAKIMA – A one-handed dunk by senior Jeremiah Wright just before the half gave the Lyncs great momentum going into halftime.
That momentum was even more apparent as the second half began as Lynden Christian outscored the Knights 27-9 in the third quarter, as the Lyncs ran away with a 61-32 victory in the quarterfinal round of the 1A boys state basketball tournament.
Wright connected on 7-of-10 from the floor, and he finished with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Junior point guard Gannon Dykstra wasn’t far behind as he hit a trio of three pointers on his way to 13 points.
It wasn’t for the state title this time, but the classic 1A matchup brought the fans as both sides of the stands were filled up.
Junior forward Luke VanKooten came off the bench to hit three deep balls and grab three steals.
The Lyncs (23-2) will face Annie Wright (23-2) at 5:30 tomorrow night in the semifinals.
