SEATTLE – In a battle of undefeated teams, the Lyncs proved to be more than superior as they defeated King’s 48-6 at Woolsey Stadium on Thursday night.

Moorlag

A 55-yard senior connection from Logan Dykstra to Cole Moorlag on the opening drive set up the first Lync points of the game as senior Grant Vander Velden scored his first career varsity touchdown from a yard out, as he lined up as the fullback in the wishbone formation.

Senior running back David Bootsma also scored his first touchdown of the season in the first quarter. He finished with 38 yards rushing on seven carries.

The next four touchdowns scored were all on passes from Dykstra, and they were to four different receivers, Kolin Sterk, Jackson Apol, Caleb Ryan and Shale Whittern.

The Knights were able to put together a strong drive at the end of the first half, and scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass to the corner of the end zone.

Backup quarterback Will Colwell threw a beautiful deep pass to Moorlag halfway through the third quarter, which resulted in a 70-yard touchdown pass to finalize the scoring.

Vander Velden

Seven touchdowns, by seven different players, and the Lyncs also played an entire game without punting. In fact, they still haven’t had to punt this season. But, it wasn’t all offense, as the Lynden Christian defense was incredibly strong once again.

Dykstra racked up 2.5 sacks in the first quarter alone to set the tone, and Vander Velden and Moorlag each led the team with 7.5 tackles a piece. Whittern also intercepted a pass.

So far this season, the Lyncs are averaging 58 points per game, and they are allowing just two points per game.

Lynden Christian (3-0) will travel a few miles to Lynden (3-1) on Tuesday night in a game that has been highly anticipated. The last time those two schools played each other in football was October 23, 1992.
