LYNDEN – When Lynden Christian junior inside linebacker Trey Bosman intercepted a pass early in the game and took it 64 yards for a touchdown, it opened the scoring. When he did it again in the third quarter, this time returning it 53 yards for a score, it re-wrote the school’s record book.

Bosman

By doing so, he became the first player in school history to return two interceptions for a touchdown in the same game. Those touchdowns, and a huge second quarter burst, helped the Lyncs pick up a 47-6 non-conference win over Napavine on Saturday afternoon.

The only Tiger touchdown came on a 15-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and the quarter ended with LC holding a slight 7-6 advantage.

But, it was the Lyncs that showed their power and athletic prowess in the second quarter when seniors Jeremiah Wright (6’6″ 225) and Kayden Stuit (6’4″ 230″) each scored 10-yard rushing touchdowns. 6-foot-4 senior safety Tyson Bajema also intercepted a pass in the end zone in the quarter.

Bouma

Lynden Christian got on the board one last time late in the first half by using a hurry-up offense that saw senior back up quarterback Thomas DenHartog slinging the football down the field play after play. His final pass before halftime was a 33-yard strike to Dawson Bouma down the left sideline for a touchdown.

Wright scored his second touchdown on the ground, following Bosman’s record breaking score in the third quarter.

Junior cornerback Mick Owen intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter, and was then rewarded on offense by receiving a quick pass from sophomore Eli Maberry which he then took 56 yards to the end zone to end the scoring.

Besides the two defensive touchdowns, Bosman also finished with 7.5 tackles, two tackles for loss and another pass knocked down. Stuit had a team-high 12 tackles, along with a tackle behind the line of scrimmage.

The Lyncs (3-2) will open up conference play at Nooksack Valley (4-1) on Friday at 7:00.
