LYNDEN – When Lync senior Kade Eldridge took the handoff on the first play from scrimmage and raced 45 yards for a touchdown, it really put an emphasis on how the rest of the night would be for Meridian. The Lyncs shut out their second opponent of the season, this time disposing of the Trojans 51-0 on Friday night.

Eldridge scored one more time on the following drive before taking the rest of the night off, and junior quarterback Jeremiah Wright scored on a pair of 3-yard runs in the first half.

Kuik

Senior quarterback Griffin Dykstra completed 8-of-10 passes for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns. One on a 35-yard strike to 6-foot-4 senior Braden Kuik, and one on a 33 yarder to junior Tyson Bajema who was able to get behind the defense on the play.

Bajema’s touchdown gave Lynden Christian a 42-0 lead just before halftime.

The Lyncs scored their seventh touchdown of the game early in the third quarter when Kuik stripped the ball, and it landed in the hands of junior cornerback Dawson Bouma who then sprinted 29 yards for the score.

Seigman

Lynden Christian was led defensively by junior defensive lineman Carter Seigman who had eight tackles, including three tackles for loss and a quarterback sack. Kuik also had 7.5 tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack, while junior inside linebacker Kayden Stuit had 9.5 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Meridian junior Joshtyn Elmer had a team-high 47 yards rushing, as well as 12 tackles and two tackles for loss, while senior Hunter Jones led his team in receiving with five receptions for 53 yards. He also picked off his fifth pass of the year, which gives him 10 interceptions for his career.

The Lyncs (7-0) will travel to Blaine (1-6) on Friday to take on the Borderites, and the Trojans (4-3) will host Mount Baker (3-4). Both games will be at 7:00.
