YAKIMA – After falling yesterday to Annie Wright, the Lyncs took their collective frustration out on Seattle Academy as Lynden Christian defeated the Cardinals 70-44 to capture third place in the 1A state boys basketball tournament.
The Lyncs were state champions the past two years.
Seattle Academy got off to a fast start, and led LC 13-12 after one quarter, but the Lyncs went on a 15-2 run in the second quarter to capture the lead and they never looked back.
Dawson Bouma scored eight points in the table-turning second quarter, and the senior guard finished a game-high 20 points on 9-of-19 shooting from the field.
Senior forward Jeremiah Wright wasn’t far behind in his final prep game with 19 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks, and junior guard Gannon Dykstra added 18 points, five rebounds and four steals.
