LYNDEN – Despite there not being a state tournament this season, the Lyncs can feel that they are one of the best teams in the state, especially after sweeping the Trojans 25-23, 25-12 and 25-22, on Wednesday night.
Lynden Christian senior Liv King had another big game with 17 kills, 12 digs and three aces, and senior Kenadi Fay was right behind her with 14 kills and 14 digs. Senior Paige TeVelde helped her teammates all night, and added up 42 assists to go along with her 10 digs, and junior Rainy Kiel contributed with seven kills.
Meridian junior Finnley Claeys led the way for her team with 11 kills, 12 digs and an ace. Junior Jolena Hoefer and freshman Emry Claeys each added eight kills, while Hoefer, Avery Neal and Rainn Hull each had 10 digs. Junior Malaysia Smith was all over the court with 29 assists and 11 digs.
The Lyncs (13-0) will attempts to finish the season undefeated when they host Blaine (3-9) at 7:00 on Friday. Meridian (8-4) will host Mount Baker (3-9) on Saturday at 7:00. This final game will serve as a fundraiser for former Meridian volleyball player Yashleen Singh, who was involved in a horrific car accident last spring. Singh will be sitting on the Trojan bench during the game!
